It’s not food that is making you fat.

It is your beliefs that are making you fat. What you think you become.

I have been an athlete my entire life and became a fitness professional and coach. I have all the knowledge of fitness, health, and nutrition and I still struggled for years. My weight fluctuated (a lot), I was bloated & chunky, felt like I wasn’t in control of my body, and was embarrassed of how I looked because I thought I should have a six-pack… then I would be worthy/sexy/more successful.

I would secretly binge eat (think pizza, nachos, toast with copious amounts of butter) and then eat “properly” in front of my colleagues and other people, so I looked professional in front of them. I have tried a ton of “diets” and “fads” that never worked long-term (duh!), even though I “knew” better.

I felt like such a fake. I was, and still am, an amazing coach and assisted my clients in creating amazing results with their body and in their lives. Yet, I felt out of control with my own body and life.

I share this to let you know you are not alone and I understand how you feel if you have a similar story. Most importantly, I want you to know that just because this has been your path so far, doesn’t mean this will be your future. 

How did I turn it around?

I learned to love myself and learned I am worthy. I upgraded my beliefs and mindset about myself. I took 100% responsibility for my results and my life. I 100% committed to myself.

Um, this isn’t in any of the “diet” and “fad” programs.  Have you tried 10 different things thinking, “This is the one that will work,” only to be let down again and prove to yourself you can’t do it? No fun. This is because you haven’t taken a deep look at YOU. On the inside.

Think about it, if you do nothing to change your mindset and only focus on trying to make external changes, it is like building a mansion on top of quick sand. It will not work. Eventually the house will crumble and sink. 

What you think you become.

Breathe and tune into how you speak to yourself (most of the time in our heads) and about yourself.
If you imagine the dialogue that runs through your head as a character in a movie speaking to someone else, what would you think about that character? Kind of a jerk, right? I know a lot of people have struggled with this. I was a royal asshole to myself.

If you are consistently telling yourself you are fat, gross, not pretty/skinny/girly enough, have bad hair, have gross skin, not smart enough…the list goes on. Your body will respond to what you tell it and what you believe about yourself. THIS IS WHY YOU HAVE THE RESULTS YOU HAVE.

As women, I know we are bombarded with media and societal pressures to look a certain way, to be a certain size to be considered hot, to have the perfect hair, skin and clothes to be thought of as sexy.

I call bullshit.
