Relationships Are Our Greatest Teachers
The people closest to us are our greatest teachers.
Why? Because those closest to us offer us the best opportunities for growth. It is not our dance teacher, neighbor or hairstylist that we have any major struggles with. It’s those closest to us, our parents, siblings, partners, children.
They trigger us, and we them. Not because they’re cruel or ill-willed, but because they
challenge us. And in this way, they are our soul mates, placed in our lives to help us
grow. If you choose to see how they can help you grow, magic happens.
People are brought into our lives to assist us in healing what gets to be healed in us. They will trigger parts of us that we get to shed light on and are our mirrors.
I can choose to see an argument or tension as “bad” and make it mean that there’s
something wrong with me (or them), OR I can see it as an *opportunity* to learn about MYSELF, and gain a greater understanding of how I come together with the dearest
people in my life. What an amazing gift!
If you are introspective and want to learn, grow and experience deeper connections, you *are* responsible for choosing to use your closest relationships as springboards for that.
Byron Katie’s the four questions and turnaround is a GREAT tool to use:
- Is it true?
- Can you absolutely know it’s true?
- How do you react, what happens, when you believe that thought?
- Who would you be without that thought? AND Turn it around, and find three genuine of how the turnaround is true in your life.
